Beach goers one Friday afternoon were in for a comfortable shock. The Jade team endeavored to take some promotional photos. They wanted to finish this before the weather changed or the activities from the Coast to Coast Adventure Race shut the beach down for the weekend.
The deadline was looming and the Jade team was ready to mobilise at a moment’s notice. An errant ray of sunshine broke through early Friday. Within minutes, we were at the pier. We trundled the chair up the ramp past confused and curious faces.
Rob, our frame-maker, was on hand to help with logistics and setting up. We were squaring it up for the final shot. The locals and tourists were eager to test the comfort levels for us.
The first photo we needed was for a portrait billboard. We thought the pier framing our Matai chair in Zepel Sylvie Charcoal would be perfect. It highlights the quality and craftsmanship that we strive for. It also shows that our sofa’s are made locally.
The Matai is a piece with a commanding presence being our largest situational chair. The Matai features a fixed high back and arms for support and comfort. With a high seat, it’s as comfortable to get off as it is to sit on. The style and nature of this chair lend it towards formal or occasional settings.
We locked in our portrait photo. It was time to bring out our second model for the day and to set up our landscape shot.
For this photo, we decided on the Carmel. It is one of our modular options in James Dunlop Ambiant Curry. We chose it to complement the sand and scenery.
We initially set up the sofa and quickly realized that the sand angle would lead to an uneven seat.
Before we moved it, some wandering tourists from China swooped on the opportunity. They took a break from their beach walk to relax in style.
They left refreshed and were on their way down the beach. We then shifted the sofa to be in line with the sand. We learned some valuable lessons about modular sofas and uneven ground. Finally, we got the shot that we needed.
